It’s a bit colder now, and the nights are much longer.
I also have only two weeks left of my job, which is exciting – 30 June is the official end date.
So much to look forward to; mainly being unemployed and on unemployment benefits once again. Ye olde faithful.
I have enjoyed my brief spate of extra money, earning myself a bit of extra food pay, which is what it’s all about – more food. Down the road from us, we have a poor excuse for a Farmer’s Market, but every second weekend there is a guy that sells vegetables (yes – our market only has a veg stand every fortnight, and the rest is stupid attempts at art by the locals). Aside from the usual fare, this seller brings with him a small assortment of heirloom and coloured vegetables, which I can’t resist. I love the varied colours and therefore the nutrients that come with it.
How did white cauliflower become the norm, anyway?
And purple carrots taste much nicer…
As well as Wintery vegetables, we have been able to get more nature-related activities happening.
I’m too much of a sun-hater to go outside for 3/4 of the year, so when it’s cooler I like to do things like go kayaking or bushwalking. The air is very chill, and everyone else stays indoors (brilliant) and the activity doesn’t always end with standing-sweat (you know, that sweat of just existing that comes with a hot Summer’s day?)
Recently we found ourselves on the canning River at 8am and the water was a glassy surface.
The good thing about having no job is all of the time I will have to do things – like kayaking.
The flip-side, is that I have no money with which to do things, like kayaking.
I will keep you all updated with any employment progress, but I’m not expecting a lot for a while, if my recent job interviews have been anything to go by!
