There are not many flowers that are as fascinating as the passionfruit flower. And the reason that I allow these sorts of flowers is because they will also turn into foods! Unfortunately, there are no bees in the area, so these flowers weren’t fertilised and so likely won’t grow me any fruit. But it was worth a shot.
The vine is very fast growing, and I love the little feelers the come out and reach towards the trellis and wrap themselves into a spiral.
Below is the strange flower head that grows, followed by the weird opening in the middle. This then bursts open into a beautiful flower, as pictured above. This flower will only be open for one day, it seems, before closing again and dropping off. I think it drops off due to lack of bees.
Below you can see all of the strange dragon heads growing before they burst into flowers. If anyone knows what happens after they flower, please let me know!
