Today’s MOFO suggestion was to cook with seasonal produce. Being so close to Winter, there wasn’t a massive amount of amazingly fresh produce for me to pick from. But luckily there were some early foods banging about, and peas are always a delicious addition. I also cheated by adding on frozen veg because I’m a RULE BREAKER and also not, because frozen veg is always in season. Yay!
Delicious food in Spring
I also used:
1 star anise
1/2 tsp cumin grounds
2 dried chillis
1 bay leaves
2 Sichuan peppercorns
1 TB chilli
½ tsp Sichuan peppercorns
½ tsp Chinese five spice powder
- In a small bowl, combine chilli, 2 peppercorns and five spice powder.
- In a pan, add bay leaves, ginger, and remaining spices. Pour in 1/4 cup of oil and heat until really hot. Discard all the spices and leave the oil only.
- Pour the hot oil into the small bowl. It’s now ready for combining with your noodles and veg.
