I’ve always associated hydroponics with poorly grown marijuana and mass-produced low-taste/nutrient food. Well, I’ve been studying up recently, and I’ve come across a few interesting facts.
Building the Hydro
I found an amazing tutorial that you can find here. Have a look on how to go about making a hydro set-up. My only change is that I hang the roots directly into the water stream. I did this because I could only afford a cheap water-feature pump and so the stream of water isn’t overly powerful. I cut an X in the base to hold the plant in place and allowing the roots to hang out. I topped up with a small amount of Perlite, so keep it balanced.
Use a half strength nutrient solution to start your plants off, moving to two thirds to full dosage rate (as detailed on the bottle) after the first nutrient solution change (about 7 – 10 days after planting).
